Pineal Gland

The Pineal Gland is a very small light-sensitive gland that is shaped like a pine cone and is located in the epithalamus near the middle of the brain. The Pineal Gland, represented as a pine cone, is a sacred symbol known throughout history in almost every culture around the world. It was revered in ancient Egyptian times as the ‘Eye of Horus’. Today it is commonly associated with the Third Eye and the Ajna or Third Eye Chakra.

The Pineal Gland produces melatonin, a serotonin-derived hormone, which influences sexual development and modulates sleep patterns in both circadian and seasonal rhythms. Melatonin stimulates immune processes acting to the immune cells’ cytokine production, the haemopoiesis, and immune cell-target cell interactions. Melatonin helps protect cells from damage and contributes to cardiovascular health and mood stability.

In addition, the Pineal Gland is partly responsible for the body’s ageing process, drug metabolism, bone health, sense of direction, pituitary gland function and mental well-being.

The Pineal Gland contains N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), an endogenous hallucinogen, in small amounts.

The interior of the Pineal Gland has retinal tissue comprised of photoreceptors cells and is filled with vitreous fluid just like the eyes. It is wired to the visual cortex, which is the primary cortical region of the brain that receives, integrates and processes visual information relayed from the retinas in an individual’s eyes.

The Pineal Gland also contains calcite micro-crystals. The complex structure of these micro-crystals is believed to permit the existence of a piezoelectric effect (ie generate a type of electric charge).

The Pineal Gland is the brain’s antenna. It can send or receive signals through time, space and dimensions.

The Pineal Gland is said to be the ‘seat of the soul’ and is believed to be involved in reaching higher levels of consciousness, acting as a gateway to higher dimensions - the link between the physical and spiritual world. Poor diet, lack of sleep and high consumption of fluoride can block the full potential of this gland.

When you have a clear Pineal Gland, you are calm and self-aware. You are not controlled by the mind and you find it easier to distinguish truth from illusion. Intuition will flow effortlessly to you as you make wiser decisions. Some substances can cause calcification in the Pineal Gland. The two primary causes of calcification are known to be fluoride and synthetic calcium.

Many cultures subscribe to the belief that certain types of sound, such as binaural beats, can have a profound effect on the Pineal Gland. Some say that certain sounds can activate the Pineal Gland or ‘open an individual’s third eye’ (eg 936 Hz frequency), while others claim that sound can decalcify the Pineal Gland and cause it to function more efficiently.

A Pineal Gland once tuned into to proper frequencies, with the help of meditation, sound , yoga or other esoteric methods; enables one to astral travel, astral project or remote view.
