Law of Polarity

The universal Law of Polarity states that everything is on a continuum and has an opposite; and the existence of these opposites is vital in helping us to gain a deeper perspective of our own lives.

The law states that everything in life has an opposite; good and evil, love and fear, left and right, up and down, hot and cold, yin and yang. There are two sides to everything. The key is understanding these opposites are all two sides of the same coin.

Contrast brings more clarity. If you are facing a difficult situation like a breakup or a health challenge, for example, tune into what the opposite looks like, which can reveal a new perspective or lesson. When setting a goal, we can either focus on the aspects that might get in the way of achieving this goal, or we can pivot our thinking to focus on our strengths and how they will help us achieve this goal. Reframing your thinking and replacing negative thoughts associated with your goal with positive ones can help attract those goals.

We can suppress and transform undesirable thoughts by concentrating on the opposite pole. There are degrees of difference between the extremes or poles, no absolutes. For example, there is not one point where you can say that cold stops and heat begins, it’s all on the same continuum. In duality everything has poles. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

If the Law of Rhythm is a pendulum, then the Law of Polarity is the furthest right and left point that the pendulum swing reaches. The Law of Polarity states that opposites of the same always exist simultaneously, but the expression of one pole or the other entirely depends on our beliefs. This is why working on core beliefs is one of the most important things we can do in our lives.
