Who are the elementals? Elementals are nature spirits that personify the four elements - earth, air, fire and water. They exist in nature and look after animals, insects, birds, rocks and plants. Earth elementals are known as gnomes; fire elementals as salamanders; water elementals as undines; and air elementals as sylphs. They can be seen clairvoyantly if a person has good attunement to the nature realm.
Earth elementals have power over rocks, flowers, trees and minerals. Some of the more familiar beings in the gnome classification include tree and forest sprites, satyrs, pans, dryads, elves and brownies. Earth elemental energy helps with grounding and stability.
Water elementals have the power over water, including streams, rivers, ponds, waterfalls, oceans and fountains. They are also associated with rain, mist and fog. Other beings classified as undines include water sprites and mermaids. They are emotional and love beauty. Water elemental energy assists in stimulating intuition and imagination. They provide a strengtheming of, and connection to, healing and nurturing skills.
Air elementals have power over clouds, snow, gases and winds. They prefer mountaintops. They also reside in the air around us. Sylphs are mirthful and changeable. Air elemental energy helps provide greater insights, creativity and mental stimulation.
Fire elementals have power over flame and smoke. Fire elementals can appear as fireballs, self-reflecting orbs of light and tongues of flame. Fire elemental energy assists in spiritual development and connection. They help provide energy, artistic ability and passion.
