Power of the Gongs

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

Gongs have been used as shamanic healing tools, a celebratory instrument and a method of communication for thousands of years. They have been used for ritual, ceremony, healing, prayer and meditation. The gong is known as an instrument of transformational power.

A gong bath is an immersion (bathed) in the various sound frequencies of the gongs. Gong baths allow your brain to relax into an alpha-dominant or theta-dominant brainwave state causing you to feel calmer, happier and less anxious. Gongs can also be used to stimulate an altered state of consciousness. This form of deep relaxation can feel similar to a trance-like state. Some people find being in an altered state of consciousness can boost their creativity, feelings of wellness or even assist with processing of trauma.

The sound of the gongs reach the body on a cellular level, encouraging integrated healing of the body, mind and spirit. The frequencies of the gongs surpass the intellectual part of the brain and travel to the core of the cellular system of the body where the healing qualities are fully absorbed.

The vibration of the gong is one of the only known instruments that has the power to penetrate our nervous system and energetic field. The gongs help create shifts in consciousness, release stagnant energy, and can clear blockages on the physical, mental and emotional levels of the body.

The key to the gong’s effectiveness is the complete submersion and saturation of a person in layer upon layer of tone - cell multiplication. The universal gong sound is based upon the musical principle that all tones of equal amplitude keep resonating, adding to themselves. This phenomenon is unique to gongs.

The gong generates powerful multi-dimensional ripples of sound that grow into waves and bathe your entire body in streams of sound. The gong bath is an immersion into a spiralling cocoon of total sound. Through gonging, we are able to lose the sense of identity with our body as a physical object. We are no longer limited to a 3rd dimensional material world, but are taken to a 4th dimensional dream body.

When played skilfully, the gongs stimulate and resonate all cells in the human body simultaneously and recalibrate the parasympathetic nervous system.

Gong baths can be done as one-to-one or as a group session. The more sessions a person attends, the better the results.
